Honoring Leadership and Legacy: Mr. Chain President Ryan Schultz Recognized as Outstanding Citizen
At Mr. Chain, we take pride not only in the quality of our plastic barrier chains but also in the people behind our work. That’s why we’re honored to share the news that our President and CEO, Ryan Schultz, has been named an Outstanding Citizen by the Cadillac Area Chamber of Commerce.
Presented at the Chamber’s annual banquet at Caberfae Peaks, the Outstanding Citizen Award is the organization’s highest honor, recognizing individuals who excel professionally and go above and beyond to uplift the communities they live and work in. This year, Ryan and his wife, Niki Schultz, shared a unique and heartwarming moment as both were honored with this prestigious award.

A Leader in Business and in the Community
Ryan has been at the helm of MR Products, the parent company of Mr. Chain, for several years, championing innovation and building a company culture rooted in growth, mentorship, and purpose. Under his leadership, the company has introduced a patent-pending product and developed an internal skills assessment tool that has significantly increased productivity among team members.
But Ryan’s leadership doesn’t stop at the doors of our Copemish facility. He is deeply embedded in the Cadillac area, giving back through numerous roles, including:
-
Finance Committee Member at Zion Lutheran Church
-
Treasurer for Boon Sports Management
-
Chair of the Human Hungry Hippos fundraiser
-
Board Member at Networks Northwest
-
Former Treasurer for the Cadillac Area Hockey Association, Cadillac Little League, and Wexford Friends of the Library
He also creates opportunities for students by mentoring high school and college interns at Mr. Chain. He shares his insights as a presenter at the Wexford-Missaukee “Mock It Then Rock It” event, where he helps teens understand how to build a resume through community service.
Coaching with Compassion
Perhaps one of Ryan’s most influential contributions is his work as a youth coach and mentor. Fellow coach Eric Stuart wrote in his nomination, "Ryan's impact on lives goes past playing sports. His pure-hearted belief in all individuals is showcased in his dedication to being involved in people's lives. I have seen so many young adults gain confidence, respect, and character through Ryan's influence."
Ryan’s commitment to community is matched only by his humility. At the awards banquet, he held back tears as he thanked those in attendance, saying simply and powerfully:
“I love Cadillac. I love coaching Cadillac. I love raising a family here. Thank you.”

A Family Dedicated to Service
Ryan’s award was made even more special by the fact that his wife, Niki Schultz, was also honored as an Outstanding Citizen that evening. As the Executive Director of the Alliance for Economic Success and a leader of the Cadillac Area Non-Profit Network, Niki’s work in economic development, early childhood education, and civic engagement complements Ryan’s values of service and impact.
Together, they are a true powerhouse of community spirit, innovation, and leadership.
A Culture of Excellence
Ryan’s recognition is a reflection of the values that define Mr. Chain: integrity, collaboration, and continuous improvement. We’re proud to have a leader who not only drives success within our company but also makes a lasting difference in the lives of others.
Congratulations, Ryan, and thank you for inspiring us every day.
